Since I worked on Cherie Goren’s book, A Time to Keep, about her journey from Lithuania to USA to escape Hitler’s wrath, I have been receiving information from HIAS, the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, (https://www.hias.org/) who helped Cherie’s family when her parents and siblings and she arrived in America in 1939. They are still working to help refugees the world over.
After reading my letter to HIAS, I Googled World Refugee Day and learned that many agencies celebrate this day. You can Google World Refugee Day and find other links, such as the one to the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) – (www.unrefugees.org).
Take a few minutes to look at some of the sites to become better informed.
