The UN General Assembly proclaimed 10 December as Human Rights Day. This is an excerpt from the Human Rights Day website: http://www.un.org/en/events/humanrightsday/:
This year’s slogan, Human Rights 365, encompasses the idea that every day is Human Rights Day. It celebrates the the fundamental position in the Universal Declaration* that each one of us, everywhere, at all times is entitled to the full range of human rights, that human rights belong equally to each of us and bind us together as a global community with the same ideas and values.
*The Universal Declaration is also on the website and consists of 30 “Articles” with an excellent preamble that recognizes the human dignity and inalienable rights of all members of the human family, which is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world.
I found another website that might be of interest called: https://vine.co/UNrightswire.This website includes visuals.
I like the idea of this being a 365 day celebration. I have always been bothered by the holiday saying: Peace on Earth, Good Will Towards Men, not only because the last word needs to be ALL, but also because why don’t we exercise this option every day? So the campaign for Human Rights 365 makes a lot of sense to me. Let’s celebrate our Human Rights every day for ourselves and for others not so fortunate as we are.
P.S. If you Google International Day Photos you will get a page with many pictures showing marches allover the world.
