Breast Cancer Action’s Think Before You Pink

Sunday, October 30th, 2011

Note: Here is a letter you can send to Susan B. Komen on the last days of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast Cancer Actions sent me the letter & I am sharing it with you in the hope you will forward it to: www.komen.org. Thank you. Breast Cancer Action works to eliminate environmental toxins that cause cancer, making corporations be accountable for their actions.

Dear Friend,

When it comes to our health, we should all insist on the highest standards, right?

Yet when it comes to Promise Me perfume, Susan G. Komen for the Cure’s standards aren’t high enough. I know we can persuade Komen to raise the bar and set an industry standard so that women will no longer have to worry whether our personal care products and perfumes are bad for our health!

Promise Me perfume, the fragrance commissioned by Komen, contains ingredients regulated as hazardous and toxic. If there’s even a chance that certain ingredients might make us sick, shouldn’t companies & organizations not use them in the first place? Seems pretty simple to me—if in doubt, leave it out!

For the past month, Breast Cancer Action has been urging people to send letters to Susan G. Komen for the Cure leadership, asking them to recall Promise Me perfume and commit to the highest standards when it comes to women’s health.  BCAction believes that protecting women’s health is a priority. I know you do, too. Prevention through precaution—it’ll keep us all healthier.
