Parome Tea Update #4 Plus Additional Info on Coffee & Tea

Saturday, December 28th, 2019
This email from Paromi Tea is one of the best I received, so I am posting it in full. I also like the fact that the jars are glass covered in black so the teas do not deteriorate in the light:

Hi Ellen Sue,

Thank you for taking the time to write us.   Paromi Tea’s sachets are derived from a plant-based material called polylactic acid (PLA). The PLA can be derived from non-gmo cornstarch, beets or sugar cane.  PLA is not a petroleum-based plastic.  Our sachets are natural and biodegradable and do not leach any toxic substances when steeped in hot water.
Regarding biodegradability, when the sachets are buried in the ground, following hydrolysis, the material is completely broken down by microorganisms, after which it is eventually turned into water and CO2.  The speed of degradation varies largely depending on the temperature, moisture and ph level of the soil, as well as the types and number of microorganisms present.
I hope this information helps and please feel free to contact me should you have additional questions.

Fluoride in Non-Herbal Teas: What next?
P.S. I received an email from about fluoride in some non-herbal teas. Here is the excerpt:
“A study conducted in the UK found that black tea can improve bone density.5 Most of these benefits are attributed to its polyphenols. Tea, like coffee, is loaded with them. However, green and black tea both contain fluoride, which is toxic and accumulates in your bones and joints, potentially causing a painful condition called skeletal fluorosis.6″
Website author Vivian Goldschmidt, MA, lists five non-fluoride teas to try:
Hibiscus, Chamomile, Dandelion, Milk Thistle and Lemon Grass.
This article also features the benefits of caffeine when used in  moderation. Great website! Once you go to the website,, type in: “How to Enjoy Coffee and Tea Without Hurting Your Bones.” You can also click
on Articles and a search box should come up as well.
