Green All-Purpose Spray

Sunday, April 15th, 2012

I found this recipe in a magazine a couple of years ago, but when I photocopied it, the title was missing, so I am not sure of the source. It is supposedly used by Julia Roberts, Kate Hudson, Jennifer Hudson and other stars. When stars do something like this, it makes the press because of their high profiles. Nice to know even stars are aware of these issues. This is #15 in my month-long marathon to post a hint or article for Earth Day, Every Day.

Fill a 32-ounce bottle with the following:

2 cups water
1/2 c. distilled white vinegar
1 tsp. pure castile soap (such as peppermint)
3/4 cup hydrogen peroxide
20 drops tree tea oil
20 drops lavendar or lemongrass essential oil.

(In summer, add 10 drops citronella oil as an insect repellant.)

This cleaner is suitable for acrylic, wood, ceramic tile, and granite.

Note: I hope to put this together & report back on its efficacy. The “recipe” is from British “green guru” Sophie Uliano, who is a yoga instructor as well as a passionate environmentalist.
