Ellen Sue,
For more than a decade, I’ve been traveling the country trying to get more people to use their voices and vote. And along the way, I learned a little secret:
When it comes to convincing your friends and family to get to the polls, you are the most trusted voice.
You know who is too busy or too forgetful. You know who might flake out on Election Day. And you are the best person to help them make their plan to vote.
So, in these final days before November 6, I have a challenge for you. Pick at least five people in your life — your friends, your family members, your colleagues, and neighbors — and add them to your #VotingSquad. Do whatever it takes to get them to the polls on Tuesday.
Whether they live next door or across the country, a text chain, phone call, or tag on social media can make all the difference.
I already formed mine along with my friends Janelle Monáe, Faith Hill, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Tim McGraw, Chris Paul and Tom Hanks. And I’m proud to work with When We All Vote and the Human Rights Campaign to help others do the same. I know how committed you are to helping get out the vote, and I know I can count on you all to build your voting squads to make sure your friends and family turn out on Tuesday.
So make your own right now! It’s easy, fun, and can make all the difference in these midterm elections.
When we all vote, we all do better. Let’s change our country for the better.
Counting on you,
Michelle Obama
