It’s time for EPA to get serious about neonicotinoid pesticides!

Please write your U.S. Representative TODAY and ask her or him to support the Save Americaâ€™s Pollinators Act of 2013. This bill will direct the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to suspend registration for neonicotinoid insecticides, which are causing serious harm to birds, bees, and aquatic life.

The bill comes on the heels of American Bird Conservancyâ€™s groundbreaking report documenting that songbirds can die from consuming a single neonicotinoid-coated seed. This report, along with the avalanche of recent research on neonicotinoidsâ€™ harms to pollinators, makes it clear that immediate action is needed. This bill was drafted by Representatives John Conyers (D-MI) and Earl Blumenauer (D-OR).

Legal Action Leads
to Whale Protections

An NRDC lawsuit has led to a landmark agreement with the Obama Administration and the oil industry to protect marine mammals in the Gulf of Mexico from seismic airguns, which are used in oil and gas exploration. The explosive noise from high-powered airguns — which repeat every 10 to 12 seconds — can deafen, injure and kill whales. The agreement puts biologically important areas off-limits to airguns and expands protection for the most vulnerable whales and dolphins. You can help save beluga whales from the same deadly noise by protesting the use of airguns in Alaska’s Cook Inlet.

Yes, this has been going around from other sites, too. Unfortunately, thanks to the “Citizens United” horrid decision, the pesticide companies have given very big bucks to political campaigns. Some are divisions of “Big Pharma”. It’s worse than you can imagine. The FDA or EPA seem to have no teeth…
