National Poetry Month: Poem-a-Day

NOTE: I just received this email from Poem-a-day asking for a donation. But I am sending this just so you are aware that such a website exists, whether or not you decide to donate.  The message will bleed into the right-hand margin.

This April, we are fortunate to have U.S. Poet Laureate Tracy K. Smith as the guest editor of Poem-a-Day, which she describes as “a series that shares the good news of poetry every single day,” reaching readers across the country in cities, small towns, and rural communities.

In fact, Poem-a-Day reaches more readers—in all fifty states and around the globe—with more new poems than any other poetry publication. But Poem-a-Day only exists because devoted readers like you make it possible.

This National Poetry Month, we are raising much-needed funds to sustain and grow this one-of-a-kind free series. Please, if you can, take a moment and help support Poem-a-Day.

The “good news of poetry” means many things. Whether you read Poem-a-Day for inspiration, to encounter new ideas or experiences, or to appreciate language and its ability to transport us, the daily practice of reading poems is life-enriching.

Thanks for reading, sharing, and supporting Poem-a-Day.

This April, we need to raise at least $50,000 to sustain and grow Poem-a-Day. Contributions of any amount help support Poem-a-Day. In appreciation of all gifts over $30, we will send our new Walt Whitman pencil set featuring lines from “Song of Myself.”
