This summer I grew peppermint in a large pot on my patio. It needs its own pot because it spreads. The vase on the left holds some peppermint sprigs that already have flowered and can be used as garnish in dishes. (See my earlier posting last month on “Eat Your Flowers.”)
Since I love mangoes and berries in my smoothies, I decided to add some mint for an extra “kick” in my morning smoothie or snack. Mint is also good for digestion. You will note that the organic in mango is in ( ), while the organic in strawberries is not. That’s because strawberries are high on the “Dirty Dozen” list from the Environmental Working Group, while Mangoes are on their Clean 15 list, that is, low in pesticides. Also, mangoes can be peeled; berries cannot be peeled.
