Leftovers on Friendship, Food & Flowers

My friends JoAnn & Jackie each sent me the same poem about friendship being like a good bra. Please go to www.divorce-dayz.info to see the posting from September 7th.

Here are two more Friendship Quotes:

My friends are the food of my soul… No leftover food either but the rich & substantive kind :-) From my friend Amparo

You are a bright and vibrant flower in my garden of friends. From my friend Karen

Finally, there is a lovely Power Point called The Bright Red Hat that a friend sent. Here is the link: http://www.v-r-a.org/ppp/RedHat/RedHat.htm.

Friendship is a precious gift that keeps on giving….

At the end of last month I posted some apple recipes in honor of Johhn Appleseed’s birthday. Here is a posting from www.freshlife.com about apples, written by the daughter of my friend Barbara Jarmoska, who is the owner.

An Apple A Day

11 fabulous reasons to eat an apple today:

  1. Stay trim-apples are fat free and low in calories
  2. Reduce your carbon footprint-most apples are still harvested by hand in the U.S.
  3. Catch up to the Europeans-Americans eat about 20 pounds of apples per capita. Europeans eat almost 50 pounds
  4. Have a healthy heart-apples are sodium free
  5. Never get bored-there are 2500 varieties of apples grown in the U.S. You could eat a different one every day for almost 7 years without a repeat!
  6. Prevent cancer-studies show the antioxidants in apple skin helps prevent disease
  7. Maintain a healthy brain-apple skin contains quercetin, shown to help reduce the risk Alzheimer’s.
  8. Reduce your carbon footprint even more– Freshlife apples come from the Nippenose Valley and are delivered by the farmer who grew and picked them. (Look for local apples at your Farmers’ Market. es)
  9. Maintain strong bones-apples contain phloridizin and boron, important components of bone density
  10. Prevent diabetes-apples contain galaturnic acid, which helps reduce the bodies need for insulin
  11. Enjoy yourself-apples are delicious!

Finally, for those of you who think only Spring is flower time, these pictures from last month are proof that this is not so!
