First Snow

I woke up yesterday morning to a world of white. Most of it was gone by late afternoon, but for a brief time I felt cocooned by all the snow. I took a few pictures late in the day when much of the snow had melted, but enough to accompany my short rhyme acknowledging our first snow in Philadelphia.

Woke up to a brilliant white
snow sprinkled through the night.

Bare boughs laden with new snow
Winter wonderland; I love it so!

Too soon the white turns sooty & gray:
Savor the frosty blanket, if only for one day.

Note the purple pansies on the foreground, the result of the earlier warm weather.
