Earth Justice

I receive mail from an organization called Earth Justice. I went to their website and found excellent photos, such as the one above, and on their Home Page was this statement:

Earthjustice is a non-profit public interest law firm dedicated to protecting the magnificent places, natural resources, and wildlife of this earth, and to defending the right of all people to a healthy environment.

A healthy environment is consistent with my Earth Day, Every Day philosophy, so this is my offering #27.

These statements are also from their website, www.earthjustice.org, whose motto is: “Because the earth needs a good lawyer”:

  1. Earthjustice is the largest public interest environmental law firm in the world, and has represented more than 1,000 public interest clients free of charge.
  2. Earthjustice cases have reduced logging in Northwest national forests, cleaned up the air across the nation, and protected more endangered species than any other environmental agency.
  3. Earthjustice is working for the public good. They sue to strengthen and enforce the laws that protect us.
  4. Earthjustice’s policy experts in Washington, DC, work to advance legislative solutions, and to protect environmental laws such as the Clean Air Act and the Endangered Species Act.
  5. Earthjustice’s clients are community-based organizations, national environmental organizations (e.g. NRDC) and public health groups (e.g. American Lung Association)
  6. Major long-term issues Earthjustice works on include: preserving our national heritage, promoting a clean energy future, and protecting human health.
  7. Earthjustice takes environmental polluters to court and wins. They average more than 40major victories a year, which set far-reaching precedents.
  8. A gift to Earthjustice does double-duty, supporting their work and adding clout to many environmental and community organizations that they represent.
