I’m writing to you about a new and groundbreaking documentary series about climate change: Years of Living Dangerously.
The first episode airs this Sunday on Showtime — but you don’t need Showtime to watch. In fact, you can view the first episode right here.
We’ve waited a long time for a TV event that could help take the climate issue mainstream and drive more government action — by showing America the very real and far-reaching impacts on people and communities.
That’s exactly what Years of Living Dangerously does. This powerful show introduces us to men and women who are living on the frontlines of the climate crisis and reveals an alarming truth: Climate change is happening right now.
And this show does it as only Hollywood can, through the storytelling prowess of James Cameron, the reporting expertise of 60 Minutes’ Joel Bach and David Gelber and the intelligence of correspondents like Harrison Ford, Don Cheadle, Lesley Stahl, Mark Bittman, America Ferrera and others.
Let’s hope that this latest effort to raise public awareness about the climate crisis will help build new pressure on our leaders to respond. We urgently need that kind of public outcry as we fight to stop the Keystone XL pipeline, crack down on power plant pollution, close the Arctic to Big Oil and build a future powered by 100% clean energy.
Thank you, as always, for your strong support of NRDC and our environment.
