A Must See Documentary Series! A Path Appears

Night before last I happened to turn on PBS a little after 10 pm and A Path Appears was airing. Here is the blurb from the website:

A Path Appears, from the creative team that brought you the groundbreaking series Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide, follows intrepid reporters Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn and actor/advocates Malin Akerman, Mia Farrow, Ronan Farrow, Jennifer Garner, Regina Hall, Ashley Judd, Blake Lively, Eva Longoria, and Alfre Woodard to Colombia, Haiti, Kenya, and throughout the United States as they uncover the harshest forms of gender-based oppression and human rights violations, as well as the effective solutions being implemented to combat them. The three-part series will air on PBS as a special presentation of Independent Lens in early 2015 as part of the highly regarded Women and Girls Lead initiative. Through heartrending, inspiring storytelling, A Path Appears will take viewers on a journey across the country, and across the globe, to drive home the universality of gender inequality and the roots of vulnerability. The series will lead viewers to a deeper understanding of these critical issues and the proven methods of bringing about change.

Mondays 10:00 PM et/pt on PBS
1 Season, 3 Episodes РCurrently Airing
The episode that I watched was on domestic abuse here & abroad, with the foreign focus on a tiny village in Kenya that is appallingly poor with young girls being sexually assaulted as early as 5 years old. One couple, a native of the village Kibera in Kenya and his American wife started a school for girls who are at risk. Their project is called Shining Hope and the title is very fitting.
When I Googled this title, I also learned that the documentary is based on a book of the same name by the same authors of Half the Sky.* They are the husband/wife Pulitzer Prize winning team Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn.
The episode I watched was a wonderful expression of how one or two people can make a difference in shelves of many. There are 3 episodes and the website has a link to all three. I plan to watch any I missed.
