Post-Earth Day Bouquet

Tulips & daffodils standing
proud and tall…

Pure beauty, that’s all, that’s all!

Branches blooming pink and white–
Ah, Spring, a gardener’s delight!

I love the Fall with leaves ablaze,

But Spring receives my highest praise….

A rainbow of flowers bobbing in the breeze;

Take time to enjoy them, won’t you please?

For in the blossoms of Spring each year
Hope & Faith once more appear…

It’s a new beginning, a renewal of LIFE.
Let’s keep Mother Earth from environmental strife.

Spring can never be too long,
I savor the bouquet of her rainbow song.

MAYhem-2011

Sunday, May 1st, 2011

A spring garden right in my very own neighborhood!

Have you seen that goofy ad from Allstate Insurance with a guy who creates accidents and calls himself “Mayhem”? Well, this month I am feeling a little “Mayhem-like” because we are going away for 2 1/2 weeks and I am racing against time to postdate articles for the entire month. I do have some items already in the works that I did not have time to finish for April. One is another article on sprouting, but this is a tutorial DVD called Seeds of Sustainability and shows how to sprout with very little rinsing.

I did have a chance to go to State College over Earth Day week-end to interview Heidi Loomis, whom I call a Midlife Earth Mother.  Here is Heidi with her two organically grown children: Katie & Eli. Heidi’s story is very interesting!

Also, I have a leftover from Poetry month which I will post. It is about Spring, so there will be more flower photos. And I have a salad that I made for Passover and took a photo, so that will be listed:

However, beyond that, I have nothing on my desktop, so I will probably reprint some book reviews I did for my friend Barb Jarmoska’s Options Magazine. Her website for the store and the magazine is: www.freshlife.com.  And I have some articles I wrote when I lived in Seattle and State College that I might print.

I do have a request. I have been writing Menupause for 5 years. I need more feedback. Do you think the articles are too long? too short? Do you want something everyday or am I posting too often? Are the recipes appealing? Have you tried any? What else do you think should be in Menupause?

Since I will be away, you may not get a response until June, but please feel free to speak your mind. While my son calls this my “vanity project,” I do hope people reading this are helped or inspired by the information and the stories/profiles/reviews, etc.

Spring has finally sprung, and mayhem or no, I am planning to fill these pages with information that I hope you will find useful, delicious, and helpful. Since we are going to Italy!!! I will sign off with CAIO!  hope to take good photos in Italy. Here is my photo of Venice, California, modeled after Venice, Italy. I hope to bring back one of the original Venice!
