June 2012: The Sky’s the Limit!
Last month we took a trip out West to see my three children and my husband’s son. (His daughter lives on the East Coast) Driving North along the highway from San Luis Obispo, Calif. where my older daughter now lives, to Berkeley, Calif. where my younger daughter and daughter-in-law just moved to, we saw these wonderful clouds sitting right on the mountain. The world seemed endless as I viewed the expansive sky from the car. (More on our trip in Travel Tales spread throughout the month.)
Perhaps June feels like that to you. The kids are out of school, vacations are planned, the days are longer and the weather allows us to be without winter coats or boots. It’s a time to shed the heaviness of winter and put on the lightness of summer, before it becomes blazing hot, at least in the East. Where my son and daughter-in-law live in Las Vegas, it is already very hot, so I am glad we went there when the air was still “breathable.”
This was a floral display inside a Las Vegas Hotel. Outside the “strip” there was only desert!
June is also a busy month for graduations, weddings, end-of-year events, etc. It’s also a time for easy eating, cooking on the grill, and beginning to unwind from winter worries. My postings will include summer salads and smoothies, herbs in dishes, as well as some light fare for simple meals.
My herbal garden this year is not in window boxes, but at ground level.
I also have a book I am reading that I want to review called The Dear One Letters by Dr. Connie Numbers. The subtitle is ‘A Path to Growing as a Human and Evolving as a Soul.’ While that may sound like a heavy subtitle, the book is very light and enlightening. Every letter has a wonderful thought or idea to mull over and consider.
June also has special celebrations like Flag Day, Father’s Day, and the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year. June is also National Dairy Month, so I plan to explore the positive and negative comments on eating dairy. This month is also National Adopt a Cat Month, and since I love cats, I may hunt for something appropriate for that. Also, June is National Rose Month. We have beautiful roses growing on the grounds of our building and I will feature some photos of roses.
All in all, June looks good! Plenty of topics for me to chat about and maybe catch up on some of the stuff in my summer files. Enjoy June and grab the feeling that The Sky’s the Limit! Below is another photo taken when we were high up above San Francisco going to a lighthouse. My favorite piece/peace of Nature is where mountains meet the ocean.

Yes, food combining is a very interesting concept. See if you can get Herbert Shelton’s Food Combining Made Easy. It’s a booklet, not very expensive or hard to understand. thanx, elelnsue
