EARTH DAY 2010
I spent two hours rifling through my file on Earth Day. I watched half of the PBS special on Earth Day and remembered going to the first Earth Day celebration in 1970. I had all these sheets of information about water pollution, pesticides, eating lower on the food chain, because methane from animal husbandry may be a bigger problem than carbon dioxide, etc. etc.
Then I decided, No, that was not what I wanted to present on Earth Day. Instead I wrote this poem and took some neat pictures in the last few days that represent the beauty of the earth, not the problems. And I called it Mother Earth’s Days because every day is Earth Day for Mother Earth and we need to take care of her gifts. So here are the poem and the pictures. I plan to post the poem on www.divorce-dayz.info tomorrow with different photos, in case you want to see more flowers and trees.
Mother Earth’s Days
Flowers nestled in the trees
Swaying gently in the breeze.
As daffodils begin to fade
Tulips bloom in every shade
Pick your favorite, if you dare
Earth’s beauty is everywhere!
Mother Nature weaves her charm
Let’s heal the planet—no more harm.
Please keep the flowers blooming yearly
And protect the earth we love so dearly!
