Just a Line!

Some of the best pictures in my new book, For the Love of Clotheslines (available on Amazon.com under my full name: Ellen Sue Spicer-Jacobson) are pictures of the art work by Jockie Loomer-Kruger. Here is one of Jockie’s paintings in my book:

Jockie also wrote a memoir which I reviewed, entitled: Valley Child: A Memoir, Recounted in Story and Folk Art. Here is the link to that review: http://www.menupause.info/archives/21215

Both of us love clotheslines and coincidentally, we both collect postcards. Jockie sent me this one (below) from 1910. It was addressed to Aunt Annie by someone named John Barnes, with the clever  “Just a line from ……” above the clothesline.

Additionally, I checked the stamp on the other side and it was one cent. I still remember penny postcard stamps, although it has been many years since a postcard stamp was only one cent!

Enjoy!
