Evert-Fresh Green Bags

This month’s P.I.C. (Product Information Corner) is Evert-Fresh Green Bags, perfect for March’s focus on green. These are special green plastic bags that I use again and again to keep my leafy greens and other fruits and veggies fresh in the ‘frig. (Regular plastic bags tend to adhere to lettuce leaves that turn them black. Not so with these bags.)

The back of the package says: “The Evert-Fresh bag uses revolutionary technology to preserve freshness and to prolong the life of fruits, vegetables and cut flowers without the use of chemicals.”

The back of the package also gives specific instructions on how to use the bags most effectively, such as not putting wet produce in the bag. How the bag actually works is that it absorbs and removes damaging gases and acts as a barrier to moisture, which inhibits bacteria, fungus, mold and decay.

The bottom of the bag lists all kinds of fruits and vegetables that can be stored in these marvelous bags. For more information, you can visit their website at: www.evertfresh.com.

Pick up a package soon at your health food market and start using them. If you cannot find them, email www.freshlife.com, which is where I purchased my last package. This is my friend Barb Jarmoska’s health food store in Williamsport, PA. The store ships almost anything.

Note: If they get “grungy-looking,” toss them in the washing machine. I keep my bags for months and months this way, and only recycle them when they finally rip, after many months of use.
