End-of-Year Message

On Dec. 23rd I received my Daily Om email, which is geared to my Sagittarian horoscope. Whether or not you believe in astronomy or are born under a different sign are irrelevant in this message below, which is the second half of my Daily Om. The title is “Grounded in Sensibilities.”

This is a photo of Mt. Everest, downloaded from Popular Science Magazine. (http://www.popsci.com/science/article/2012-12/ring-in-the-new-year-with-12-amazing-images-of-earth) This is just a reminder to reach for the highest point in your heart in the new year and all year, coming back to yourself whenever you feel yourself moving away from your own center.

We remind ourselves of what is truly important in our lives each time we reformulate our value systems to make certain that our everyday practical decisions are not in opposition to our personal philosophies. The whims of the world can distract us from our true goals and our individual ideologies, so we gain a newly intense sense of self each time we ground ourselves in our sensibilities. We remember all those beliefs that helped shape us as people and can, with each phase of life, discard those that no longer add value to our experiences. In reinforcing our values, we once again become whole, autonomous individuals capable of independent thought. When you actively think about who you are and the choices you make today, you will feel like yourself again.

As you make plans for the New Year, reset goals, or reinvent yourself after a traumatic event such as divorce, death of a child or spouse, loss of a job, etc., this message above will hopefully come in handy.

Happy, Healthy New Year!
